Each digipak has a front and back cover representing the artist, all include the name of the artist and the title or the song/album.
They can include a shot of the artist and some may just have a picture which represents the artist but not an actual picture. On the back conventionally is a track listing. Some bands or artists will have inserts inside the digipak which will include photos of the artist and/or lyrics of the songs, this appeals to bands as it makes it more personally, to the consumer.
Here's an example of a digi-pak.
I looked at the Digipacks for the top 40 UK singles chart roughly about 30-45% were just fonts and did not have any relevance to the artist. For instance FLO RIDA Good feeling is a simple design, witch i really like.
Here are some more simple examples of CD covers, with a simple image. I really like these designs, theirs very simplistic and give some of the information away, such artist etc. But for a new Artist the CD cover is very important so the genre of the music is portrayed, so when some one buys the CD it will catch their attention.
Here is a more in depth analysis of a CD cover. This is another simple design but with the artist being the central image on the CD, similar to the Akon CD cover, they are both shown as the dominant figure and draws the eye. Both are seen as powerful, for instance Flo Rida has a chain, showing that he has wealth, similar to Akon as he is in a suit.
Overall the CD covers are prime example of a good CD cover, as it shows the key conventions of a CD cover, such as the Album name, The artist or band, they are all clearly visible, witch in my opinion is vital, as It should be a simple design.
From the CD cover I have gained some ideas, which I would like to incorporate I my CD, certain aspects like a central image and a small title, are key elements I might incorporate. I think that the CD cover is the most important aspect, as the theme will throughout the Digi-pak, and even something similar with the magazine cover.
Here are some simple digi pak designs. Again a like the simplicity of them, but very effective. The CD,s are one color with simple logo on them, as for the back its a picture with the music on the back and the front a band picture, all of its in black and white, or grey color.
Again a simple design a segment of an orange, with the name of the band on the front and the CD with a blue color and a band log, with the other songs on the back. Below is Just a huge collection of covers that I found very useful, through the research, the back is normally similar, the same colors as the front with the song names on the back. And the CD's are normally a really simple color with the band logo on. I have decided not to use, the facebook logo or twitter logo on the CD, to tell be how to find them because I think it makes the CD look unproffesional.
